Summer months are coming, and for us, that means a whirlwind of activity.
The exciting news is that we are getting a new basketball court and a new playground!
When a new office building was constructed next to the Home, the basketball court became a “building casualty”, and was demolished in the process. The builder will be constructing a new one by the end of May.
More exciting is that we have ordered, by faith, lots of playground equipment. The total cost will be $8000 for equipment and landscaping. So far we have raised $3000 and the church in Ramallah has also contributed nearly $1000. See www.hnlife.org and look under projects to see the new equipment.
The basketball court and playground are a part of the children’s home and church. I love how the people “hang around” the church in the evenings and the young people play basketball and the children play on the playground.
The picture below shows how the basketball court looks now. Next month we will see the new one!
Summer camp is coming!
This means getting everything ready and a team coming to help us. The kids and the church love this time of outreach to the neighborhood. It will run around 3 weeks, and the children pre-register to attend as space is limited.
Our BIG announcement is that our son Michael, his wife Jackie, and their baby Lily are coming to live and work in Ramallah this June!
Michael is finishing his second Masters degree in May, and Jackie has a Masters in music. The church, and the people here are excited about their arrival. They have already been asked to participate in the music program for the combined Evangelical Family Camp to be held this summer.
We have a very pressing need in view of our transportation needs for the ministry. The ministry NEEDS a new van. We have an old one, Mitzi (a Mitsubishi named Mitzi by a church group) that deserves to be retired. The church group already raised $6000 to help us with this. We should be able to get the new van, a VW, for about $30,000 duty free. Please, please, if you have never contributed toward a need like this, consider it (You really didn’t need the tax return, did you?).
